Hawks soar to victory
To end a busy November that saw three tournaments in 5 weekends, the U14 Rep B Leitrim Hawks finished up their 2024/25 tournament season at the Capital Mid-Season Showdown, hosted by the Stittsville Rams.
The tournament started off with two wins against opponents from the GTA, the Upper York Admirals, and Milton Winterhawks (blue). The winning touch continued on Saturday with a hard fought match against new local rivals Upper Ottawa Valley Aces, and a Belleville tournament rematch against the Newmarket Renegades. The Hawks took the top spot out of pool play to secure a rematch in the semifinals vs the Aces. The old adage is true, the hardest thing to do, is beat a team for a second time in the same tournament. After regulation the game was knotted up at 3-3. 3 on 3 overtime was needed and the Hawks secured a spot in the finals!
The Championship game was against the host team Stittsville Rams. In the only other meeting this season, the teams skated to a 2-2 tie. In similar fashion this was also tied up after an eventful 3rd period. Another OT game ended with a similar result for the Hawks, as they defeated the Rams in an exciting tournament final!
