U14 Hawks Silver Finish in Sudbury
The U14 Rep B Leitrim Hawks travelled to the mining town of Sudbury in search of the Silver Stick regional title.
The tournament started off on a strong note with two decisive wins against the neighboring town Copper Cliff Reds and host Sudbury Wolves. Day two started with a 1-1 draw vs local rivals Kanata Blazers before finding their scoring touch to defeat the Nickel City Cubs on their home rink, taking the top spot out of pool play. The semi-final was a rematch vs the Copper Cliff Reds, in their home rink, under the shadow of the Super Stack. The Hawks continued their dominant play, finding the back of the net and earning a finals birth for the second tournament in a row. Similar to their last tournament, the final had some local flair, with a pool play rematch against the Kanata Blazers. In a tight affair, the Hawks surged in the finals minutes of the game to try to tie it up, but fell a little short of their goal, taking second place in the tournament.
